2019

 Here's hoping 2019 is a better year then 2018!

Guess it warmed up enough in St. Louis that Josh's cousin was able to come take care of the scraping and painting at the Duchesne house.

back on the road heading 150 miles to Ken's Dr. appointment again!

Apparently there aren't that many Dr.s here in the states with much experience with the lizarov Technique.

Took many calls and even going to my Dr. in St. Louis and getting a copy of all my medical records, but i finally got an appointment with an electro-physiologist here in Middle Georgia.  It's been over 2 years since my ablation and over 1 1/2 years since I've had a follow up.  Just hasn't worked out when we've been back in St. Louis.  Either he's on vacation or I can't get an appointment.  So, time to find a Dr. near Perry.  There were only 4 that showed up in my insurance coverage.  This guy seemed to have the best credentials.  So Dr. Hoffman it is.  The appointment went fine.  He wants to run another series of tests---ekgs, echo, stress test, and wear a heart monitor again.  I don't feel like I'm having a lot of afib again, but I do get a fast heart rate sometimes---fast enough that my arms go weak and sometimes I feel like I'm going to white out (black out, except everything goes white instead of black!)  So time to find out what's going on.  He seemed nice---and so young!  Said he'd wait until I got back from vacation to do the tests.  So Feb. 13th I'll get those done, and get the monitor.

Such a sad day---and we didn't even know it then!  This was my last $2.49 breakfast at Lane's.  Next time we went, they informed us they were only open for breakfast from something like 9-10:30 from then on and only serving breakfast sandwiches.  So very very sad!!!!  Now I'll have to do more cooking at home!

2019 Kauai (Jan. 19 - Feb. 2):

After only spending 5 days in Kauai since 2015, I was excited about finally getting back there.  This will be a different trip.  It will be with my sister instead of hubby, but I'm looking forward to seeing her, too.  She has never been to Kauai.  This will be my 15th trip to Kauai since 2001.  It feels like home!  In fact, hubby and I have been on Kauai longer then we've actually been in our current "home" in Perry, Georgia!

The long awaited day was finally here!  Today Ken was getting his fixator off!  Seems like just yesterday it was fixed to his leg (ok---seems like years ago!).  Actually, it was 10 months and 10 days ago.  Then came the 260 mile RT from Perry - Marietta every 10 days to 2 weeks!  That's a lot of trips!  And a lot of miles!

The trips to the Dr. aren't over yet!  But we're moving on to the next stage.  Today the fixator was removed.  Originally he was going to keep the fixator on until the CT scans showed the ankle was totally fused.  But after 2 adjustment surgeries in the last couple months and more broken wires, the Dr. took that option off the table and said he's putting the nail or rod in his leg.  That was an option back in April, but Ken didn't want to do the 8 weeks in a non walking cast so went with the adjustment surgery instead.  Turns out, he would have the 8 weeks in a non walking cast either way!  Too bad he didn't go that route back in April!  More miscommunication!  Anyway----Monday the bandages are being changed and a non-walking cast is put on.

2019-Dec. 10-20 : Zuiderdam 10 nt. sunfarer (Bonaire; Curacao; Aruba; Amber Cove; Half Moon Cay)

It's been over 2 years since our last cruise.  During that cruise, we paid the $100/person for the FC Deposit.  Of course we had no idea of what was to come in the next year.  Ken's diabetes caused his ankle to collapse.  For the next 1 1/2 years he was in and out of hospitals and Dr.s' offices.  Ultimately it appears they were able to fuse his ankle and save his foot, but he's still a long way from moving well.  But we hope that a cruise will be a good way to finally get a little rest and relaxation.

So I booked us an inside handicapped accessible room for $750/person with gratuities included.  At that point, we weren't sure if he'd still be in his wheel chair full time or in a boot when the cruise date came.  Turns out, both.  So when prices for  a verandah cabin dropped to $799/person shortly after final payment, I called to grab one of them.  But they said we'd loose our gratuities, unless we wanted to upsell to a signature suite for $999/person---then, somehow, we would be able to keep the paid gratuities.  Sounded a bit fishie, but I liked the idea of a suite, so I took it.

We had tickets to fly there, but with Ken hurting his leg and needing the wheel chair and other stuff, we decided to drive.
